As you can tell from the shop curtain with the character "大" on it,
this is a depiction of the storefront of "Daimaruya," the predecessor of the Daimaru
Department Store.
The sign was taken down at the end of the Meiji period, but the store reopened at the
Yaesu exit of Tokyo Station after the war.
The group in the foreground are carpenters who have just finished
raising the roof of a building.
You can see the costumes worn at the ridgepole-raising ceremony back then.
One Hundred Famous Views of Edo is a series of ukiyo-e prints
begun and largely completed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797~1858)

Never framed, kept in professional condition.
