This painting has a unique depiction and atmosphere, with many dots on both
the flowing water and the riverbank.
Another interesting feature is how the man in the lower left and the man in the basket
on the riverbank meander along their path,
depicted in a continuous, moving image-like manner.
The title Kinugawa refers to the Kinugawa River, a tributary of the Tonegawa River.
Hokusai Series of One Thousand Images of the Sea were reproduced
by Tokyo traditional woodcut craft Association
These traditional woodblock prints were reproduced exactly as the first edition
at Edo-Tokyo Museum have by many of top skilled craftsmen
like a dream team in Japan.
