This painting is one of the masterpieces that made Hiroshige's name known to the world,

 as well as being a representative work of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido.

"White rain" refers to a sudden rain, and his outstanding depiction conveys

the tension even in the sound.

Shono was the latest post station on the Tokaido, and retained

the appearance of a rural village.

The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō (Hoeido-Ban) were reproduced

by Tokyo traditional woodcut craft Association

These traditional woodblock prints were reproduced exactly as the first edition

at Edo-Tokyo Museum have by many of top skilled craftsmen

like a dream team in Japan.
