Odawara was the first castle town after leaving Edo.

Odawara Castle can be seen at the foot of the Hakone outer rim,

and it developed as the base of the Later Hojo clan during the Sengoku period.

Perhaps because it inherited a large castle, it was also a large-scale post town,

and was bustling with many guests staying overnight before crossing Hakone.

 

 

 

The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō (Hoeido-Ban) were reproduced

by Tokyo traditional woodcut craft Association

 

These traditional woodblock prints were reproduced exactly as the first edition

at Edo-Tokyo Museum have by many of top skilled craftsmen

like a dream team in Japan.
