From One Hundred Famous Views of Edo
A drawing of the Sanno Festival (Hie Shrine) held every year on June 15th.
Elaborately decorated floats gathered from each town in Edo, paraded through the city,
and even entered Edo Castle, where the shogun viewed the parade.
In the foreground is Sakurada Moat, and on top of the bank in the back is Hanzomon
Gate. "Kojimachi" is the present-day Kojimachi.
One Hundred Famous Views of Edo is a series of ukiyo-e prints
begun and largely completed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797~1858)
