There are several theories about the origin of the name Sendagi,
including "Senda" (a thousand horses) and "Sendan" (trees).
Dangozaka was popularly called because "there was a tea shop selling dumplings
nearby" and "it's so steep you fall like a dumpling".
Later, it also became famous because Mori Ogai built his residence halfway up the slope.
One Hundred Famous Views of Edo is a series of ukiyo-e prints
begun and largely completed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797~1858)
