"Yamashita (lower)" refers to the low-lying area around Ueno Station,
southeast of Ueno Hill.
The group of women with parasols are ladies-in-waiting from Edo Castle
heading to Ueno Hill for cherry blossom viewing.
On the right is the shiso rice restaurant "Iseya," and you can see flounder and
sea bream hanging in front of the store.
One Hundred Famous Views of Edo is a series of ukiyo-e prints
begun and largely completed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797~1858)
