"Noboritoura" from Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, created around the same time,
looks out over Edo Bay towards Izu and depicts Mount Fuji as a small figure,
whereas this painting overlooks the Boso Peninsula in the distance,
showing that the two are depicted from opposite directions.
Hokusai Series of One Thousand Images of the Sea were reproduced
by Tokyo traditional woodcut craft Association
These traditional woodblock prints were reproduced exactly as the first edition
at Edo-Tokyo Museum have by many of top skilled craftsmen
like a dream team in Japan.
