Amida Falls is a famous waterfall located in the northern tip of Gifu Prefecture.

This painting is not an actual scene,

but was refined in the style of Hokusai from a model painting.

The bold composition depicts the different expressions of the abstracted upstream

flow and the water plummeting to the basin.

These traditional woodblock prints were reproduced exactly as the first edition

at Edo-Tokyo Museum have by many of top skilled craftsmen
