Japanese Woodblock Print Name
#005 - Hietsu no Sakai Tsurihashi in Etchu Province (飛越の堺 つりはし 岐阜・富山)
From Series - Rare Views of Famous Japanese Bridges
"Hietsu" refers to the old names of the provinces "Hida" (northern Gifu Prefecture)
and "Etchu" (Toyama Prefecture).
As you can see, the acrobatic suspension bridge is doubtful of its existence,
but Hokusai may have drawn it from his imagination based on people's folklore.
The scene of the deep mountains in late autumn, with wild geese flying,
is skillfully depicted.
