The painting depicts Join-ji Temple on Mt. Gyodo in Ashikaga City,
a Shugendo temple known as the Koyasan of the Kanto region.
It is said that the steep approach to the temple kept people away.
A bridge connects the temple to the teahouse on the left,
and when mist rolls in, the view is as shown in this painting.
It is still a scenic spot designated by the prefecture.
