Kameyama prospered along with the neighboring Sekijuku,

located near the difficult Suzuka Pass.

Kameyama Castle, adjacent to the post town, was designed to have a rugged appearance

 that took advantage of the natural topography, which seems to have been ideal material

 for Hiroshige.

This painting is famous as one of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido,

along with "Kambara" and "Shono."

 

 

The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō (Hoeido-Ban) were reproduced

by Tokyo traditional woodcut craft Association

 

These traditional woodblock prints were reproduced exactly as the first edition

at Edo-Tokyo Museum have by many of top skilled craftsmen

like a dream team in Japan.
