From One Hundred Famous Views of Edo

In Edo, boar meat, which was not eaten in the Edo period,

was called Yamakujira (mountain whale).

In this picture, "Owari-ya" is a restaurant that serves stewed boar

meat and spring onions.

There is also a stew shop selling oden on the shoulder, and on the right side,

a shop selling roasted sweet potatoes.

The name "Juusan-ri" is a pun on the fact that "juusan-ri" is "four ri tastier than

chestnuts (nine ri)."

One Hundred Famous Views of Edo  is a series of ukiyo-e prints

begun and largely completed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797~1858)

Never rolled up.

Never framed, kept in professional condition.
