From One Hundred Famous Views of Edo

At the bottom of the picture, the railings are visible, and the white earthen

walls are the Yushima Seido, the center of Confucian learning.

"Shohei" is derived from the name of Confucius' hometown.

The surrounding area was surrounded by a valley formed by

the excavation of the Kanda River, which has made it a place of great scenic beauty.

One Hundred Famous Views of Edo  is a series of ukiyo-e prints

begun and largely completed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797~1858)

Never rolled up.

Never framed, kept in professional condition.
