The natural indigo-dyed furoshiki are dyed by BUAISOU, an indigo master and dyer in Tokushima Prefecture, renowned as a producer of Awa indigo, who handles everything from indigo cultivation to dyeing. The furoshiki are dyed by hand one by one using traditional dyeing techniques using 100% domestically produced natural indigo.
It is well known that samurai wore indigo-dyed underwear under their armor because indigo-dyed fabrics have deodorizing, insect-repellent, and antibacterial properties. Indigo dyeing is also a suitable dyeing method for furoshiki, which are used for wrapping, carrying, and storing. In addition, the more you wash it, the more the tannins in the indigo will come out and the brighter the color will become, and the more you use it, the more it will age to suit its owner, making it a piece you can love and use for a long time.
